INTRODUCTION

The French and Indian War, sometimes known as the American version of Seven Years War which took place in Europe , lasted from 1754-1763. The French and Indian War, as I have come to find out, is actually the result of several conflicts between Britain , France and even Austria . Several years of dispute between the English monarchy and the French and Austrian monarchies left war the inevitable solution to colonial conflicts throughout the world. Unlike most other wars, the French and Indian War began on American soil in 1754 and spread to the continent of Europe in 1756 where it became known as the Seven Years War. Winston Churchill even went as far as to call the French and Indian war the first true World War. It involved several nations at war on many different continents. It was also a prelude to the American Revolution. Many of the ideas reiterated in the American Revolution got their origins during the French and Indian War. This website will attempt to capture the importance of the War itself and how its legacy has shaped America today.
